The heart-stopping conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, which Ransom Riggs, bestselling author of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, called “a thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love.”

With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn’t know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won’t keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Now she must rely on Warner, the handsome commander of Sector 45. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world . . . but that’s not all he wants with her.

The Shatter Me series is perfect for fans who crave action-packed young adult novels with tantalizing romance like Divergent by Veronica Roth, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and Legend by Marie Lu. Tahereh Mafi has created a captivating and original story that combines the best of dystopian and paranormal, and was praised by Publishers Weekly as “a gripping read from an author who’s not afraid to take risks.” Now this final book brings the series to a shocking and satisfying end.

Review (*Spoilers*):

Now, now where do I even start. This is going to be a long review so get ready.

First off, I want to say that when you read a series of books, separately and individually, usually waiting for the books to come out to read the sequel, you'll have way more experience in that world. I know, I know, THE WAIT THOUGH. Yes, I hate it, too. I feel you. But the thing is, if you read each book separately at their own individual time, it's like you are living in a whole other world. After you finish the last book and reflect on the first book in the series, it's like you've spent a whole lifetime in the world.

The first time they met, how the characters developed, it's an amazing process that can only be fully experienced when reading this way. If you read all the books in a series at once, yeah, you don't need to wait but you also can't experience the whole feeling of living in the world. This is how I felt after reading Ignite Me. I read Shatter Me, QUITE a while ago. Let's see, some time in September 2012. I read Unravel Me in July 2013 and Ignite Me, February 4. As you can see, there's been quite a journey. When I think back to Shatter Me, Juliette was still that possibly mental girl who was broken and about to break down. Everything was just the beginning, Adam, Warner, the Reestablishment, everything was just scratching the surface of the whole world and it's amazing how you can reflect on that after you read a series. It happens when I finished Champion. The epilogue and then how I thought about the first time they met in the first book. asdfghjkl ;D

Second. I know people probably all noticed this (if you haven't, you have the detective skills of a slug. not a compliment) the writing changed, more or less. More, really. At the beginning, Juliette's head was basically this mental place that would be hazardous to your sanity. She counted everything, the repetition of words, the short sentences that show how broken she was. There was also the crossing out of words that drove me crazy.
Crazy
Crazy.
Crazy.

Jk im cool.
Then she put on her big girl pants on (props to you Kenji) and grew up. She gathered her broken pieces, bit by bit and slowly rebuilt herself again. Ahem, examples:

(From previous books, Shatter Me)

“I’ve been locked up for 264 days.

I have nothing but a small notebook and a broken pen and the numbers in my head to keep me company. 1 window. 4 walls. 144 square feet of space. 26 letters in an alphabet I haven’t spoken in 264 days of isolation.

6,336 hours since I’ve touched another human being.”

Well dang. I can barely count my fingers and you can keep track of how many hours since you've touched another human. Impressive.

(From Ignite Me)

“I’m finally learning how to be strong in more ways than one.”

“I’m so much more aware of myself now.”

Aye, yes you are. The whole book is an example so if you want to know, READ THE BOOK.

Alright. I'm going to talk about my favourite part now. W-A-R-N-E-R. I think I'm gonna die from his perfectness. (I am fully aware that this is an actual word) Fine, he's not perfect but he's pretty damn close. Those who are still Team Adam, really? REALLY? Are you even serious. Do you hear yourself. No. Unacceptable. Below is a list why you should love Warner and not Adam.

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD NOT LIKE ADAM.

1) He's boring. Yes. Yes he is. Oh, he's gorgeous and kind and sweet and BORING.

“Do you never get exhausted being so wholly unbearable? You have as much charisma as the rotting innards of unidentified roadkill.” -Warner

HOHOHOWOAH. ha. XD

2) He needs to get over himself. Just because you think that you guys didn't break up, doesn't mean that you didn't. For a matter of fact, Juliette dumped you THREE times and you still act uncivil towards her.

“That didn’t count as a breakup,” Adam says, his voice rough. “We still loved each other—”

No, no, I remember exactly that EVERYONE knew you two broke up.

3) GET OVER YOUR HORMONAL ISSUES. PLEASE. We know you're going through a rough time, and other shit, but can you not be so rude to people? Did I say rude? Yes, yes I did. You acted quite rudely if I remember correctly. Let's go over some points shall we?

“If you want to see him so badly,” Adam says to me, “you can get the hell out of my house. But he’s not coming back here. Not ever.”

“I don’t give a shit anymore,” Adam says. “She can go do whatever the hell she wants.” He turns to me again. “You want to be with him?” He points to the door. “Go. Drop dead.”

“I was happier,” Adam says, “when I thought she was dead.”

GIRL, YOU DID NOT JUST GO THERE. *snaps in his face* *calling him a girl even though he's not. or maybe he is o.O*

Fine, fine you're messed up in your head about Juliette. Then why are you being such a dick to Kenji? He's your friend for heaven's sake.

“Leave her alone, Kent,” Kenji says suddenly, his voice deathly sharp. “I’m serious.”
“This is none of your business—”
“You’re being a dick—”
“You think I give a shit what you think?” Adam turns on him. “This isn’t your fight, Kenji. Just because she’s too much of a coward to say anything doesn’t mean you have to defend her—”

Leave everyone alone and we all be singing kumbaya.

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD LOVE WARNER.

1) He actually has character depth. He has a background, a personality and a lot of other great things that make him wholly as a person. We know why he is the way he is. Why he does the things he does. We know how broken and alone he actually is and how he tries to hide it all.

“I have no one to impress,” he says. “No one who cares about what happens to me. I’m not in the business of making friends, love. My job is to lead an army, and it’s the only thing I’m good at. No one,” he says, “would be proud of the things I’ve accomplished. My mother doesn’t even know me anymore. My father thinks I’m weak and pathetic. My soldiers want me dead. The world is going to hell. And the conversations I have with you are the longest I’ve ever had.”

*cries* it's okay, it's all good now.

2) He's funny, sweet, caring and utterly good at everything he does. Everything he does. *hint, hint, nudge, nudge, wink, wink* ;)

“Oh,” he says, surprised. “No. Though I’ve always been very good at everything I do.”

Damn right you are ;D

3) He never meant to hurt anyone. His intentions were good.

“But I never had any intention of using you against your will. The idea has never appealed to me.”

Seeeeeeeee? Everything has been a lieeeeee. A LIEEEE. It was all a simulation. All a simulation.

4) He's attractive okay. He works out everyday and he has a good taste in his clothes. Unlike some people. (This isn't aimed towards Adam btw)

“His hair a golden mess around his head, his eyes so green and so simultaneously transparent that they defy true description”

I like golden hair. And green eyes. ;D

“Mondays are for legs,” I heard him explain to Castle. “Tuesdays I work chest. Wednesdays I work my shoulders and my back. Thursdays are for triceps and deltoids. Fridays are for biceps and forearms. And every day is for abdominals and cardio. I also spend most weekends doing target practice,”
oh. oh. *has troubles breathing*

“I’m watching him bench-press three hundred and fifteen pounds. I can’t stop staring. I don’t think I’ve ever been more attracted to him in all the time I’ve known him.”
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. <3

I know I gave Warner one more reason but at least I can't think of more reasons to dislike Adam right? Right. (I'm sincerely sorry if this comparison offended anyone. No seriously, sorry D; )

I think if I add anymore quotes, then I'll be copyrighting the whole book into my review. But a few more pleeeaasseeeeeee?

“Why do you call her ‘love’?” James asks. “I’ve heard you say that before, too. A lot. Are you in love with her? I think Adam’s in love with her. Kenji’s not in love with her, though. I already asked him.”
Warner blinks at him.
“Well?” James asks.
“Well what?”
“Are you in love with her?”
“Are you in love with her?”
“What?” James blushes. “No. She’s like a million years older than me.”

*laughs hyper manically*

“This is, by far, the craziest shit I have ever seen,” Kenji says. “I really never would’ve believed it. Not in a million years.”
“It’s like a soap opera.” Ian nods. “But with worse acting.”

I laugh at your speech Ian, in a good way.

Okay, I'm done. Oh wait. No I'm not. Time for some Juliette and Warner quotes XD

“A fair-skinned boy with gold hair, the leader of Sector 45.
It was always him. All along.”

WELL THAT TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH TO FIGURE OUT.

“I love you,” I whisper. “I love you exactly as you are.”

*aaawwwweeehhhsssss* so hard <3 yesss

“It’s a heavy, unbelievable kiss.
It’s the kind of kiss that inspires stars to climb into the sky and light up the world. The kind that takes forever and no time at all.”

“And we are quotation marks, inverted and upside down, clinging to one another at the end of this life sentence. Trapped by lives we did not choose.”

See? They are perfect for each other. They support each other. But with Adam in the other hand...

“Well. Actually, you were a hell of a lot weirder when you were with Kent. Super whiny. And so dramatic. And you cried. All. The. Damn. Time.”

Now that's settled, I have one more thing to say before I finish this review. The only thing that irks me (the word irk is so funny sounding) is that the climax barely happened. The whole book it was leading up to it, then BAM, two seconds into it, it's over. She killed Anderson so fast and the climax literally had three pages. Come on. It just kind of feels like she wanted to quickly finish this up. There could've been a better battle scene at the end but that's it. The whole book is beautiful.

The Shatter Me series really has been a great journey for me. The ending was great and so was the lead-up and all the world building. I'm sincerely sorry for the Adam fans. I know how you feel. If Juliette ended up with Adam, THERE'LL BE HELL TO PAY. No, I'd be so mad at the world and every single thing in it. But really. Juliette fits much better with Warner. Really. :'D *sighs* Now, EVERYONE GO READ. I WILL FIND YOU AND MAKE YOU READ IT. Okay? Okay. yay reading ;D
