Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.

Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.

But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.

Review:

This was dumb. That's all I'm going to say because that's what it is.

This book has all the hype. Remember hype? Yeah I kinda hate it. But at the same time, I have to read it because...hYPE. Oh, and hear this. The hype had nothing to do with my opinion of this book. I just didn't like it.

This was one the most anticipated books of 2014 man, and it kinda failed my expectations a little too much. I don't like the writing. It was all...weird (I sound so juvenile). I can't exactly describe it, but it was told from third person and I COULDN'T CONNECT TO ANY OF THE CHARACTERS. I was just watching this static tv show, with bad acting and terrible signal.

I donut like Cara. Cah-ra. Whatever. A complete Mary Sue, all perfect and dolled up and blehck.I donut like Aelyx (?) either. He was a superficial being who liked to compliment women of their easiness of giving birth. He probably gets better but I couldn't read that far. It was impossible. So basically, the L'eihr names are just human names but with very strange and wrong spelling. Annjylah. There. That's my L'eihr name. This isn't even a valid argument point about why I don't like this book but I feel the need to rant.

Just another thing that bothered me. You don't write about how a character doesn't have a belly button, then mention that its even hotter without one. Saying that a guy looks even hotter after mentioning that he has no belly button is just freaking strange.

Lots of other people liked it...but not me. You can read it and decide for yourself. Don't say I didn't warn you.

P.S. the cover is pretty. But it's also too colourful and vibrant and has a million bajillion things included on the cover that makes me want to rant again.

Rating: 2/5 Stars
