Being permanently based in a local New York City high school as an undercover operative has its moments, good and bad, for 16-year-old safecracker Maggie Silver.

Pros: More quality time with her former mark-turned-boyfriend Jesse Oliver and insanely cool best friend, Roux.
Getting to spend quality time with her semi-retired and international spy honorary uncle, Angelo.

Cons: High school and the accompanying cliques, bad lunches, and frustratingly simple locker combinations.

But when Maggie's parents are falsely accused of stealing priceless gold coins, Maggie uses her safecracking skills to try and clear their names.

Too bad it only serves to put her and everyone she loves in danger. Maggie and her "new team" flee to Paris where they must come up with a plan to defeat their former allies.

Review:

If this were rated by my earlier self, I would've definitely given it five stars. Even though I loved this book A LOT, it didn't really change my life or was particularly influential in any way. It was just extremely cute, hilarious, and a generally feel-good type of book.

Wow, I love me some spring break. TWO WEEKS OF FREEDOM. I seriously need to catch up on reading. Going Rogue was the only thing that made Vancouver's rain bearable. I mean, how long does it have to rain for it to stop. Please give me a break. I'm gonna go crazy. This was so funny I couldn't stop laughing so many times I swear my insides were going to fall out. Okay TMI. The plot was interesting and keeps you on your toes. The characters were amazing and so completely loveable.

Going Rogue is by no means some great literary masterpiece. It's not. But it is very, very enjoyable and absolutely witty (did I just say "witty"? yes. I just did). It never got boring or became slow. It was steady and the action scenes made you *garb your chest in a dramatic fashion wheezing until you faint* nah jk. It was pretty intense.

I need to include quotes because this book was full of dialogue and phrases I NEED TO SHARE BECAUSE THEYRE SO DARN entertaining.

"Well, even if you do, I'll homeschool you. I'll give you all my quizzes and homework and I'll let you do the reading, too. No need to thank me!"
Nicely said, Roux. I like the way you think.

“Oh my God, no. Definitely no ass kicking allowed. C’mon, look, there’s a bookstore. Let’s go inside and see if he follows.”
“What if he does, though?”
“Then we pull the fire alarm and I’ll go for his knees while you slam him in the face with a fire extinguisher.”
“Really?”
“Of course not.”

“Of course! Even if I’m followed by a thousand creepers, I’ll be there! They can’t stop me!”
“Jesse untangled my arms from his neck and held me out to stare at me. “Please, Maggie, don’t bring the creepers with you.”
“Okay, no creepers.”

“What do you two do? Angelo never mentioned that you might be joining our little soirée.”
Roux just smiled at him. “I deal in sarcasm, punching people, and ordering takeout.”

“I felt bad and I had been stupid, so yeah. This one’s a compass.” He poked at one of the tiny charms, then pulled something out from under his shirt. I saw a matching compass glinting on the edge of a chain. “I have one, too. It’s so you always find your way back to me, and so I can always find you, wherever you are in the world.”
that might be the sweetest and thoughtfulest (it's a word. it is.) thing ever. <3

“Help!” I cried as I turned and started running down the hall. “I’m an American tourist trapped by a madman!”
“He attacked me!” I cried, putting on my best wounded face. “I was just here to see the Mona Lisa and he attacked me! This would have never happened in Boise!”
Roux, sensing that it was her time to shine, threw herself into her role. “My friend!” she cried. “She’s my friend, we’re from America! WHO IS THIS MADMAN?”

*laughs hysterically like I always do*

the romance is so cute and believable I think my mouth is gonna suffer injuries from "aweeh"ing too much. <3 I loved ALL the characters, every single one of them. Roux and Ames was just <3 <3 I don't even have words :'D

enough with the quotes. you get the idea. this book is great. so is the first. both are so, so, amusing and great. I know some people aren't into fluffy no brainer books, but if you are, or maybe you just feel like it that day, read this. no, like seriously. :3
