The Scarlet Letter meets Minority Report in bestselling author Sophie Jordan's chilling new novel about a teenage girl who is ostracized when her genetic test proves she's destined to become a murderer.

When Davy Hamilton's tests come back positive for Homicidal Tendency Syndrome (HTS)-aka the kill gene-she loses everything. Her boyfriend ditches her, her parents are scared of her, and she can forget about her bright future at Juilliard. Davy doesn't feel any different, but genes don't lie. One day she will kill someone.

Only Sean, a fellow HTS carrier, can relate to her new life. Davy wants to trust him; maybe he's not as dangerous as he seems. Or maybe Davy is just as deadly.

The first in a two-book series, Uninvited tackles intriguing questions about free will, identity, and human nature. Steeped in New York Times bestselling author Sophie Jordan's trademark mix of gripping action and breathless romance, this suspenseful tale is perfect for fans of James Patterson, Michelle Hodkin, and Lisa McMann.

Review:

This was all interesting enough, but lacked an overall "wow" ya feel? Those books that keeps you reading, it's not boring and thus you finish it. But after you're done, you're just like "eh, cool. I'm gonna go eat now" and then you forget about the book later. It didn't especially leave a big impact on me, but it was a good pastime and interesting book.

Is it just me or WHY ARE THERE SO MANY CHARACTERS. LIKE WHAT. There are so many characters that just show up one freaking time, making the readers feel like they're part of something big and BAM, they disappear and are never heard of again. What. Why. I know there's going to be a sequel but still. Please don't throw in random characters. Sean's brother. He seemed really cool, and chill. I even decided to LIKE him. Then what? Oh right. He disappears on us. There were MAAAANNY many other example but I shall leave it at this.

The "kill gene" was honestly a very original idea and interesting concept. Or maybe I haven't read too many books to relate???? There are many kinks that flaw the kill gene concept hence them being wrong. Not all people who kill people are bad. Geez. There are too many variables and situations that determine either the killer is "good" or "bad". I mean, if you're just an asshole dude who has anger problems and decides one day you're gonna um cause "trouble" because of some stupid reason, then yeah. You should be under watch. Suppose now that all you're doing is defending yourself from this evil murderous cult dude and you accidentally kill him trying to defend yourself from his attacks. Are you still a homicidal psychotic killer? Not really now. You can't just classify people who are "going" to "kill" people in the same category and lock them up. What I'm trying to say is, not everything is black and white. There's no "good" and "bad". That's why there are fifty shades of grey. Okay sorry that was a bad joke.

You know those times all you feel is remorse and hopelessness and all the sad feels you'll ever feel? Yeah. I felt that during the first quarter of Uninvited. OH MY GOD. Okay. Tori, you are probably the shittiest friend someone will ever have. Seriously. Go away. Go bury yourself in sand and suffocate. And the boyfriend whose name I have forgotten already. Who in the right mind would want to sleep with their gf after they've been "diagnosed" with HTS because you'll never have a chance to sleep with her ever???? You, are a very shitty boyfriend also. You and the shitty "best friend" can all go burn yourselves. Everything was going completely downhill with no breaks. I could put myself into her shoes and man, it sucked.

The romance was...kinda just thrown in there. What I don't understand is, no matter who, where, what the situation, you can still manage to fall in love with the first moderately attractive guy you meet. While in this *not as bad and screwed up* world, we are still forever alone. I guess all we need are some zombie apocalypses, alien invasions, vampire invested worlds, goddamned governments throwing us annual hunger games to find love. I'm kinda looking forward to it. Not.

Would this be recommended...? Yes. This was interesting (WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE BORING IS BAD) and it kept me reading. The plot is solid enough and the characters are not bad. They were relatableishnotreallybuttheyrecool.
